Job Summary
Senior Large Loss / Excess Attorney
A well-established law firm is seeking a senior-level attorney with substantial litigation experience to handle complex high-exposure large loss and excess matters. The opportunity is suited to an accomplished litigator who can independently manage sophisticated cases develop strategy and provide practical guidance throughout the litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex high-exposure litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution.
- Develop and execute litigation strategy including evaluation of liability damages exposure and settlement opportunities.
- Lead or oversee discovery depositions substantive motion practice and trial preparation.
- Draft and review pleadings motions briefs and other significant litigation documents.
- Represent clients in negotiations mediations hearings and where applicable trials.
- Coordinate with clients insurance carriers co-counsel experts and other parties as appropriate.
- Provide timely guidance regarding litigation developments material risks and recommended next steps.
- Maintain accurate insurance defense billing and comply with applicable carrier litigation guidelines.
Qualifications
- Senior-level attorney with substantial litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling complex matters involving significant financial exposure.
- Strong litigation strategy legal writing negotiation and case-management skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage sophisticated matters effectively.
- Trial experience preferred.
- Pennsylvania and New Jersey admission preferred for the Large Loss / Excess role.
- Portable business and/or distinctive practice experience is a plus.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing.
Work Arrangement
- The position is remote with travel that may be required for in-person appearances and travel time may not always be billable. The role carries a 1950-hour annual billable requirement.

Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation for the Large Loss / Excess position will be commensurate with seniority; a specific range has not been confirmed. Discretionary bonuses are available with considerations including production and origination. Attorneys exceeding the annual billable-hour requirement may also be eligible for a bonus.
