Athletic Trainer

Position Summary:

The Athletic Trainer helps manage the overall healthcare of Regina High School student athletes. The ATs primary responsibility is home game-day coverage while maintaining lines of communication with the athlete her family and coaches if an injury occurs.

Responsibilities include:

• Home game-day coverage which may include weekend coverage
• Managing training room (including maintaining inventory)
• Communicating with coaches regarding limitations further injury prevention return-to-play protocol etc.
• Evaluating the athlete to identify injury or judge the severity of the injury as directed by standard protocols
• Treating injuries by providing emergency care and first aid procedures for the injured athletes as directed by standardized procedures and/or a physicians recommendation
• Designing and supervising implementation of rehabilitation programs for each injury which includes proper rehabilitation protocol as determined by established medical standards or a physicians prescription monitoring and documenting the individuals progress while adjusting the program to the athletes tolerance and establishing a safe and gradual return to activity or the sport
• May be asked to come on a practice day to evaluate athlete during their return to play period
• Performing other related duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Maintains proper certification
• Experience working with high school athletes preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must complete Protecting Gods Children through the Archdiocese of Detroit if not having completed already
• Must submit to new background check
• Hourly salary dependent on qualifications and if contracted out by a company
