This is more than an athletic training position. It is an opportunity to become part of one of the Department of Defenses most significant investments in human performance. Since its launch in 2018 H2F has expanded to dozens of active-duty brigades and is expected to reach more than 110 brigades by FY2027. The program has already demonstrated measurable improvements in Soldier readiness including higher Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) pass rates reduced musculoskeletal injuries and improved overall health and resilience.

Job Description:
The Athletic Trainer provides comprehensive injury prevention clinical care rehabilitation and performance optimization services to Soldiers assigned to Army units participating in the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Program.
Working within an interdisciplinary Human Performance Team the Athletic Trainer helps optimize Soldier readiness through evidence-based musculoskeletal care injury prevention strategies rehabilitation programs and performance education designed to maximize operational effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver evidence-based injury prevention evaluation treatment rehabilitation and return-to-duty services.
Collaborate daily with Physical Therapists Strength and Conditioning Coaches Registered Dietitians Cognitive Performance Specialists Occupational Therapists and unit leadership.
Provide immediate care and clinical management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries.
Design and implement rehabilitation and injury prevention programs tailored to military occupational demands.
Support Soldier performance across the five H2F readiness domains:
Physical Readiness
Mental Readiness
Nutritional Readiness
Sleep Readiness
Spiritual Readiness
Educate Soldiers and leaders on injury prevention movement quality recovery strategies and performance optimization.
Utilize Army-approved documentation systems and data collection tools to monitor outcomes and support continuous program improvement.
Participate in unit physical training field exercises educational events and multidisciplinary case management meetings.
Promote a culture focused on readiness resilience and long-term Soldier health.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
A passing score from the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer examination and hold current credentials of Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC).
An unrestricted state license/registration/certification in any of the 49 regulated states; the District of Colombia; or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Guam or the US Virgin Islands to provide health care within the scope of practice for ATs per state practice acts.
Maintain current certification/licensing requirements as required by the contract and the applicable state board of the AT.
National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Two years of relevant AT work experience within the last three years. Relevant experience is defined as developing and executing task and environment specific functional injury control and health/well-being programs for groups of athletes or Department of Defense/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association the American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.
U.S. Citizenship (copy of birth certificate or naturalization papersrequired).ATs performing underthis contract must be US citizens.
Successfully complete government background screening.
Pass pre-employment drug screening.
Meet government medical and immunization requirements.
Maintain all required professional credentials throughout employment.

Physical Requirements:

Demonstrating exercises and movement techniques.
Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 45 pounds.
Supporting Soldiers during physical training and rehabilitation activities.
Adapting to changing schedules and mission priorities.
