Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Athletic Director

FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification

REPORTS TO:Principal and/or other Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 193 days; returning teachers 188 days with benefits provided according to the Teachers Negotiated Agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Participate in curriculum review and design.

  2. Implementa variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.

  3. Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.

  4. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

  5. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.

  6. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

  7. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

  8. Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL Reading Special Reading).

  9. Effectively implement district initiatives.

  10. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
  2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  4. Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR:

1. Provide leadership and direction to the Districts athletic/sports programs

2. Provide leadership in the selection assignment training and evaluation of the head coaches and assigned staff members.

3. Oversee the budget for stipends paid to coaching staff.

4. Arrange for athletic trainer and/or medical doctor at all home varsity games.

5. Collaborate with Transportation Supervisor to arrange transportation for athletic events.

6. Hire officials and security and work with building principal in arranging proper supervision of sporting events.

7. Arranges field and gym practice and game schedules

8. Attend required professional development training associated with the directors position

9. Foster good community relations by keeping community aware of and responsie to the athletic programs and events

10. Responsible for recommendations to the maintenance office in regard to the playing facilities and equipment rooms

11. Other duties as assigned
