Position Overview:
The Middle School Assistant Wrestling Coach will support the development of the middle school wrestling program by helping student-athletes learn foundational wrestling skills build confidence and grow in their understanding of teamwork discipline and competitive effort. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Middle School Head Coach and in alignment with the varsity wrestling program.

A growth mindset and willingness to collaborate with school personnel and coaching staff.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes families and coaches.
Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Berrien Springs Public Schools.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements MHSAA regulations and Board of Education policies.
The Middle School Assistant Wrestling Coach will:
Assist with all aspects of the middle school wrestling program.
Support the Middle School Head Coach in planning and running practices.
Teach basic wrestling fundamentals techniques rules and expectations.
Promote a positive safe and encouraging environment for middle school student-athletes.
Supervise student-athletes at practices competitions and team activities.
Support the development of student-athletes both on and off the mat.
Promote and support multi-sport participation while helping student-athletes maximize their potential.
Work collaboratively with the varsity wrestling staff to support program alignment and future athlete development.
Communicate effectively and professionally with players parents coaches administrators and officials.
Maintain accurate records and complete assigned administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach wrestling fundamentals while holding student-athletes to high standards.
Knowledge of wrestling techniques rules safety and basic strategy.
Experience coaching competing in or assisting with a wrestling program.
Experience working with middle school-aged student-athletes.
Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes of varying skill levels.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Flexible schedule with the ability to commit to in-season responsibilities.
CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
MHSAA CAP Certification or willingness to obtain.
