Associate Vice President of Accounting

SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Accounting serves as the senior accounting authority for a multi-site vertically

integrated Ophthalmology organization (Ophthalmology Optometry ASC). Reporting directly to the CFO

the VP of Accounting is responsible for setting the high-level accounting strategy scaling accounting

operations and enforcing technical compliancewhile actively driving day-to-day execution across general

ledger operations financial closes technical GAAP accounting external audits and tax compliance.


This role requires a working executive mindset: a leader who can design scalable accounting strategies

for a growing enterprise but who also rolls up their sleeves to steer close bottlenecks process

improvements and directly supervise the accounting integration opening balance sheet setup and system

onboarding for future acquisitions.

  • Direct and oversee all corporate accounting functions ensuring full compliance with GAAP regulatory standards and internal policies across 50 locations.
  • Direct monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes establishing target schedules that ensure timely GAAP-compliant consolidated reporting.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to harmonize clinical and administrative workflows with accounting timelines optimizing operational cycles to eliminate close bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and refine a unified multi-entity Chart of Accounts optimized for multi-line-of-business tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle Management leadership to ensure accurate revenue recognition frameworks contractual allowance modeling bad debt reserve calculations and clinical cash posting reconciliations.
  • Establish clinical cost allocation strategies while directly overseeing physician compensation accounting provider productivity tracking and site-level expense control.
  • Design implement and enforce a rigorous enterprise-wide internal control framework to safeguard corporate assets and ensure financial reporting integrity.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting working capital optimization and reserve management across multi- entity corporate structures.
  • Direct tax planning compliance and timely filings across all federal state and local jurisdictions.
  • Lead the optimization and administration of enterprise accounting technology and financial BI platforms to eliminate manual processes and accelerate close cycles
  • Guide financial decision-making by establishing monitoring and enforcing internal accounting policies and operating procedures.
  • Manage relationships with commercial lenders banks and capital partners ensuring strict adherenceto loan covenants and debt reporting requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with local state and federal financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic business plans aligned with overarching company goals.
  • Oversee financial audits serving as the primary liaison and recommending procedural improvements to enhance operational controls.
  • Perform accounting financial and other duties assigned by management.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:


REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree in Business Finance Accounting and 15 years of progressive

healthcare accounting/finance leadership. Advanced knowledge of finance accounting budgeting

cost control principles and GAAP. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting

systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Experience managing subordinates

and teams. Experience with working in an integrated healthcare system.


PREFERRED: Masters Degree (MBA/MS Accounting) preferred. Prior experience in the Ophthalmic

industry preferred.


CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:

  • CPA designation strongly preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Finger dexterity is needed to access enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard calculator and other standard office equipment..
