Job Description: SUNY Schenectady County Community College seeks applicants for the position of Associate Vice President ofAcademic to the VicePresident for Academic and Student Affairs and provides leadership in identifying institutional priorities and implementing change. They develop and advise on short- and long-term institutional planning projects and provide data and research to support decision making and strategic planning including management and implementation of the institutional outputs for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education position has direct oversight of the following areas: - Institutional Research
- Institutional Accreditation
- Institutional Effectiveness
- Strategic Planning
Responsibilities: - Manage the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan. Coordinate integration of planning into the operational processes of the institution to include: strategic planning master planning and sustainability planning.
- Provide leadership in planning development promotion and implementation of an institutional effectiveness system aimed at improving programs and services. The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs must have a long-term strategic focus that contributes to the overall achievement of the colleges strategic priorities.
- The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs will oversee the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment and will engage in a broad range of research and reporting activities including responsibility for routine and ad hoc data collection data analysis and data reporting for both internal and external audiences. They shall have oversight responsibility for the colleges institutional and programmatic accreditation processes.
- Provide leadership with the program review process and compile the annual curriculum and assessment reports.
- Oversee implementation of the Colleges General Education requirement approved course list.
- Chair the Academic Affairs Assessment Committee and assists deans with course-level and program level assessment activities and ensures appropriate action plans.
- Develop the Colleges IEM and Balanced Scorecard and assist the President and Vice Presidents with strategic and operational planning activities. Design and administer institutional effectiveness plan (at the institutional and program level) for accreditation and to benchmark institutional progress on various indicators and implement the Richmond Fed Data.
- Coordinate manage and implement institutional outputs required by governing agencies and membership organizations to include the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation Processes.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations to strategically align messaging in all media and communication platforms to advance the Colleges priorities; including student recruitment and enrollment student success and retention efforts.
- Provide advice to the President on a range of long-term policy and strategic initiatives collaborating with College leaders as appropriate.
- Interact with Executive Leadership Team Faculty and Staff to seek information and facilitate processes and decisions which impact the Colleges planning process.
- Lead college-wide cross-functional initiatives.
- Prepare policy and decision support analysis to inform and contextualize institutional decision making.
- Provide leadership in institutional planning and policy development on issues which cross institutional functions and organizations.
- Develop research about students faculty and staff and other activities to support institutional assessment.
- Assess and analyze new opportunities for alignment with institutional priorities.
- Working closely with the Colleges financial and administrative offices assist with multi-year financial planning models resource and cost distribution models and budget assumptions are developed and vetted appropriately with campus leadership.
- Assist in the identification and allocation of resources required to achieve strategic goals.
- Assist with new Faculty Orientation and Institute Week activities.
- Work with campus leadership to develop strategic initiatives and projects for the College.
- Oversee special projects at the discretion of the President.
- Work closely with the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs to support enrollment strategy planning and program development.
- As requested represent the College with various constituencies such as SUNY higher educational associations community groups and others.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements: Job Requirements: - The successful candidate must be a deliberate and creative academic leader who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills a team orientation and a high energy level.
- Demonstrated experience in using data to foster improvement is essential.
- Candidate should have significant experience with strategic planning and assessment and an understanding of programs that effectively promote student retention and success.
Minimum Qualifications: - Masters Degree required
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the field.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively with leadership administrators faculty and external college constituencies.
- Strong organizational leadership with evidence of creativity and initiative while effectively engaging and collaborating with individuals from varied backgrounds experiences and perspectives.
- Demonstrate ability to integrate manage encourage motivate and work constructively with a team of professionals.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and an energetic influential and diplomatic work style
- Excellent organizational and communication skills - both oral and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: - Doctoral degree preferred with evidence of relevant professional training and/or expertise.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to job responsibilities.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students faculty administrators and support staff in accomplishing job tasks.
- Strong organizing ability for multiple tasks and high priority projects.
- Clear understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.
