The Laboratory Supervisor Pharmaceutical Microbiology is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the microbiology laboratory ensuring all testing is conducted accurately efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves supervising laboratory staff maintaining quality systems and ensuring adherence to SOPs cGMP and safety protocols. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage multiple priorities while maintaining high scientific and operational standards.



Work Schedule: Monday to Friday standard business hours (flexibility required for early/late/weekend shifts as needed)

Work Restrictions: Due to the nature of the work medical marijuana cards are not permitted and random drug testing is conducted.

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct supervision of microbiology laboratory staff and oversight of daily lab operations.



Essential Functions

  • Supervise daily microbiology laboratory operations including workload planning and resource allocation
  • Ensure all microbiological testing (sterility endotoxin microbial limits etc.) is conducted accurately and in compliance with SOPs and cGMP
  • Review and approve test data reports and documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Train mentor and evaluate laboratory personnel to ensure high performance and compliance
  • Maintain and enforce laboratory safety standards and protocols
  • Investigate deviations OOS (Out of Specification) results and implement corrective actions (CAPA)
  • Coordinate with internal departments and communicate with clients regarding project status and technical matters
  • Ensure proper maintenance calibration and qualification of laboratory equipment
  • Support audits (internal/external) and ensure audit readiness at all times
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency quality and compliance






Requirements


Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Microbiology or related science (Masters preferred)
  • Minimum 46 years of experience in pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory environment
  • Must have supervisory or leadership experience in a Microbiology setting
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP SOPs and regulatory requirements

Work Environment

Laboratory setting with exposure to microorganisms and potentially hazardous materials. Use of appropriate PPE (gloves lab coat eye protection etc.) is required.

  • Normal vision (including color differentiation) and hearing
