Summary of Job Duties:
The Comprehensive Associate Professor Ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats eye disorders and provides primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations including visual field testing slit lamp evaluations and tonometry.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. in ophthalmology.

  • State license to practice and specialized training.

  • Need to have a thorough understanding of eye anatomy function and disease.

Responsibilities:

  • Prescribe corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contact lenses

  • Perform surgeries to correct eye injuries and conditions such as cataracts

  • Treat eye diseases such as glaucoma macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease

  • Prescribe oral and topical medications to treat eye diseases

  • Advise patients on proper eye care and maintain detailed medical histories

  • Refer patients to subspecialty ophthalmologists for evaluations regarding eye surgery and/or long-term treatment.
