Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Associate or Experienced Composites Engineer (Level 2 or 3) for the 787 Fuselage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston South Carolina.

As an M&P engineer you will define engineering requirements to develop select or recommend parts materials processes manufacturing technologies machinery tools and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.

Additionally you will qualify new materials parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. You will conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools materials parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions. M&P engineers are responsible for using project management tools to meet cost technical and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes (2) research design and qualification (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support and assist with engineering design review

• Support material and part qualifications internal to Boeing and at suppliers

• Provide engineering support to the production system

• Possess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality

• Influence others to exhibit Boeing Values and Behavior

This position may require up to 20 - 25% travel domestically or internationally.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Physics or Chemistry

• 2 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment

• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

• Experience working with composites and/or composite manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience in a materials and processes engineering environment

• Experience with aerospace composites technology

• Experience with composite part and/or material qualification

• Experience working with suppliers associated with an engineering production system

• Problem solving communication and teamwork skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $91800 - $124200

Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $112200 $151800
