Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions supports the Office of Admissions and the enrollment team by developing implementing and managing recruitment strategies specifically for transfer students to meet institutional enrollment goals. This position requires a combination of strategic planning project leadership and hands-on recruitment experience. The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions contributes to daily admissions operations leads special projects or initiatives as assigned and serves as a key liaison between Barton College and external partners to promote the Barton experience for prospective transfer students. The role also includes supervising student workers who assist with admission-related tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the transfer admissions team including counselors and support staff fostering professional growth and team cohesion.
- Oversee and actively participate in the full transfer student recruitment process including community college visits transfer fairs virtual events and other recruitment activities.
- Manage and develop recruitment strategies specifically for transfer student populations to support institutional enrollment objectives.
- Mentor and guide admissions staff on best practices for engaging transfer students building relationships and managing enrollment.
- Analyze CRM data and enrollment analytics (e.g. Slate Jenzabar SIS) to inform recruitment strategies and optimize transfer enrollment outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Admissions and other enrollment team members to set transfer enrollment goals monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community college counselors independent consultants and other stakeholders who influence transfer student decision-making.
- Represent Barton College at transfer recruitment events delivering presentations to groups and participating in individualized student and family meetings.
- Participate in evening weekend and overnight recruitment activities as needed to support transfer enrollment goals.
- Review and evaluate transfer applications provide recommendations and support admissions decisions in alignment with institutional policies.
- Collaborate across departmentsincluding financial aid academic programs athletics and student lifeto ensure a seamless and positive transfer student recruitment experience.
- Maintain a professional and positive presence within the office and during all external interactions with transfer students and their families.
- Support the Office of Admissions with special projects initiatives and strategic enrollment planning related to transfer students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required.
- Demonstrated experience in college admissions enrollment management or a related field with 3 years preferred.
- Previous leadership or project management experience in an admissions or enrollment office is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of CRM systems (Slate preferred) and enrollment data analysis as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and social media platforms; experience with Jenzabar preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with prospective students families and colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion.
- Proven track record of reliability responsibility and professionalism.
- Strong organizational planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced goal-oriented environment.
- Must be able to travel frequently including overnight trips and weekends and work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
