Student Experience & Recreationis seeking an Associate Director of Facilities and Risk. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE) 12-month professional faculty position.

TheAssociate Director of Facilities and Riskprovides leadership administration and operational direction for Oregon State Universitys Recreational Sports facilities grounds equipment building services maintenance operations spaceutilizationand departmental risk management a key member of the Recreational Sports leadership team this positionensures that facilities services systems and operational practices support safe accessible inclusive and high-quality experiences that advance student success wellbeing belonging and community.

This position plays a critical role in creating environments where students employees members and guests feel welcome supported and able to thrive. Through stewardship of highlyutilizedrecreational spaces and operational assets the Associate Director strengthens the student experience and supports the departments commitment to service excellence innovation education respect trust and continuous improvement.

The Associate Director leads operational strategy across maintenance services building services grounds fitness equipment services facility stewardship asset management and space optimization. The position establishes service standards manages budgets and resources oversees vendor and contracted services uses data and performance metrics to guide decision-making and advances operational practices that improve reliability efficiency customer satisfaction accessibility sustainability and long-term resource stewardship.

A central responsibilityforthis role is providing operational leadership for departmental risk managementemergency preparedness and operational continuity. The Associate Director serves as the departments primary liaison to Oregon State University Environmental HealthandSafetyand Emergency Management and provides strategic oversight for safety protocols emergency action planning incident reporting and follow-up access control security systems fire and life safety practices hazardous materials coordination regulatory compliance and accident prevention efforts. This position works across the department to strengthen a culture of safety preparedness accountability and risk-informed decision-making for facilities programs services events staff students and visitors.

The Associate Director supervises professional faculty and classified staff and provides oversight for contract and student employees. The position is responsible for workforce planning recruitment onboarding training performance management employee development and operational alignment with Recreational Sports commitment to student development this role also supports student employment as a high-impact learning experience that builds leadership capacity career readiness transferable skills and a sense of belonging.

As part of the broader Student Activities and Recreation operations structure the Associate Director collaborates closely with departmental divisional and university partners to align facilities and risk priorities. The position contributes to departmental strategic planning and supports priorities aligned with Recreational SportsStudent Activities and RecreationStudent Affairs and Oregon State Universitys strategic plan.

This Associate Director rolehasbroad administrative responsibility leadership visibility anda meaningfulimpact on student wellbeing and campus community. The position reports to the Director of Finance Facilities and Operations in the StudentActivitiesand Recreation portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and administrative oversight for all Facility Services operations supporting Recreational Sports including Maintenance Services Building Services Fitness Equipment Services and Grounds Services.

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the departments comprehensive risk management program supporting safe operations across facilities programs services and events.

• Provide leadership for the management and optimization of Recreational Sports facilities grounds equipment and operational assets that support student engagement wellbeing recreation and campus community programs.

• Supervise professional faculty and provide oversight of classified contract and student employees within Facility Services operations.

• Develop implement and assess comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facilities infrastructure building systems and equipment to ensure reliability regulatory compliance andoptimalperformance.

• Lead the development implementation assessment and continuous improvement of departmental risk management emergency preparedness and safety protocols in accordance with university standards and industry best practices.

• Lead operational facility planning efforts including spaceutilization functional improvements accessibility enhancements and long-range operational needs to ensure facilities effectively support departmental priorities and service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in management business recreation facilities management natural resources science or a related field appropriate to the position.

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities and operations management within a large complex organization demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and achievement.

• Five (5) years of full-time professional supervisory experience including responsibility for hiring training developing coaching and evaluating employees.

• Demonstrated knowledge of facility operations maintenance programs service delivery operational planning and continuous improvement of facility systems and services.

• Demonstrated experience assessing operational issues analyzing alternatives and making sound consistent decisions in support of organizational objectives.

• Demonstrated knowledge and application of risk management principles and practices.

• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external partners stakeholders and collaborators.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

• Strong organizational project coordination and workload management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities deadlines and operational demands.

• Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive accessible and welcoming environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

• Certification in CPR/AED First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens/Universal Precautions within 90 days of hire.
