Associate Counsel

Associate Counsel / Full Time / NY

(Comp: $200000 $50000 bonus)

Position:Financial Technology Partners is seeking an Associate Counsel to join our small high-leverage legal team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel the Associate will touch nearly every part of the FT Partners legal platform--engagement letters for FinTech clients employment matters vendor and SaaS contracts corporate policies and the playbooks and AI tooling that scale our practice. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in commercial contracts at a top law firm and have a desire to broaden their legal skill set to become a well-rounded in-house lawyer at a boutique investment bank

Essential Functions:

• Partner with the General Counsel across the full range of legal matters affecting FT Partners business and operations
• Draft review negotiate and revise investment banking engagement letters and related investment agreements
• Draft review and revise employment agreements offer letters and related templates
• Review and negotiate commercial agreements including NDAs SaaS and software licensing agreements service agreements consulting agreements and other vendor contracts
• Build and maintain contract playbooks(standard positions approved fallbacks alternative clause libraries) and integrate them into the firms legal AI workflows
• Improve the firms standard agreement templates and corporate policies and procedures
• Assist with managing paralegals and legal interns

Basic Qualifications:

• 2 years of relevant legal experience preferably at a major national law firm
• Exceptional drafting analytical and editing skills
• Demonstrated fluency with legal AI tools and a track record of integrating AI into document work flows
• Admitted to the bar in good standing
• A strong work ethic and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced deal-driven environment
• U.S. work authorization required. FT Partners will not sponsor applicants for work visas at application or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in commercial and contract law
• Exposure to financial services FinTech or investment banking
• Familiarity with M&A and capital markets
• Prior in-house experience at a financial institution or technology company
