Associate Content Creator

TheAssociateContentCreatordevelopstheday-to-daycommunicationsoftheOfficeofHealth Sciences Education creating copy for social media blogs/news and some print collateral. The Associate Content Creator works closely with the Associate Director for Strategic Communications and multiple collaborators across VU and VUSM (faculty staff and students) to interview research source and create content for all VUSM channels. The Associate Content Creator manages all aspects of VUSM social media including collaborating on and executing components of the editorial calendar creating and scheduling posts and monitoring engagement across multiple social media platforms.

The Office of Health Sciences Education (OHSE) administers the degree programs of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) and supports its mission to catalyze impactful discoveryservantleadershipandlifelonglearning.OHSEstaffprovidecomprehensivesupport across academic program administration educational design and informatics student services and financial and operational oversight.

In alignment with VUSMs commitment to excellence OHSE works to prepare future leaders in the health professions who are equipped with the knowledge skills and judgment needed to deliversafeeffectiveethicalandpatient-centeredcare.Ourstudentsareencouragedtothink critically foster innovation and understand the broader systems and social factors that shape health outcomesempowering them to advocate for positive change in both local and global communities.

• Writingandcontentdevelopment.EngagedeeplywiththestudentsfacultystaffofVUSM professional degree programs (housed in the Office of Health Sciences Education) to glean opportunities for compelling stories and interviews. Collaborate with Associate Director for Strategic Communications on an editorial calendar and from that calendar develop content that can be deployed to:

• SocialMedia-Therolerequiresunderstandingthedifferentaudienceandtoneofeach of our social media channels (Instagram X Facebook and LinkedIn) craft posts that inform and engage our followers and drive them to our website(s).

• EmailNewsletters-CollaborateswithOHSEprogramcontentcontributorsandAssociate Director of Strategic Communications to contribute to timely and engagingemail newsletters.

• Long-form Content -Content such as profiles Q & As and news stories will be featured on the School of Medicine website and pitched to Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt Healthnews and communications outlets when appropriate.

• Social media monitoring and engagement.Perform periodic sweeps of social media platformstomonitorVUSMmentionsandinteraction.EnsureadherencetoOHSEVUSMVU and industry wide standards and best practices.

TheAssociateContentCreatorreportstotheAssociate Director of Strategic Communications. The Associate Content Creator supervises a part-time student copywriter.

• Abachelorsdegreefromanaccreditedinstitutionofhighereducationoranequivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

• Experienceofwritingfor(non-personal)socialmediawebandemailnewslettersis necessary.

• Experienceand/oreducationinthefieldsofjournalismmarketingpublicrelationsor strategic communications is preferred.

• 2-3yearsofcopywriting/contentcreationexperienceisnecessary;4-5yearsispreferred.

• Strongwrittenandspokencommunicationskillsarenecessary.

• Abilitytodevelopandnurturerelationshipswithstudentsfacultyandstaffisnecessary.

• ExcellentgraspoftheEnglishlanguageandgrammarrulesaswellasadaptabilityto required style guides (e.g. Associated Press) and brand guidelines (VU VUSM) is necessary.

• Experience with social media scheduling and monitoring tools such as Sprout Social is preferred.

• Editing interviewingand content/background researchexperienceispreferred.

• AnunderstandingofWordPressHTMLEmmaemailmarketingsoftwareandCanvais preferred.

• Comfortwithacamera and basic photo and video editing skills are preferred.
