Pay: $130000.00 - $175000.00 per year

Location: This is a hybrid position based in New York City offering a strong balance of in-office collaboration and flexible work.

Note: Candidates must have an active New York bar license and at least 2 years of civil litigation experience. General liability defense experience is strongly preferred and trial experience is a major plus.

Job Description

• Manage a diverse caseload of general liability defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Handle personal injury motor vehicle property damage construction and labor law and product liability cases.
• Draft pleadings motions discovery responses reports and legal memoranda.
• Take and defend depositions of parties witnesses and experts.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to develop effective case strategies.
• Appear in court participate in conferences arbitrations mediations and trials.
• Communicate regularly with clients courts opposing counsel witnesses and co-counsel.
• Provide timely case updates strategy recommendations and litigation assessments.
• Work closely with partners associates and legal staff in a collaborative team environment.
• Manage files efficiently while meeting billing budget and client service expectations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of civil litigation experience required.
• 3 years of general liability defense experience strongly preferred.
• Active New York bar license in good standing required.
• Experience with depositions discovery court appearances and motion practice.
• Trial experience is a strong plus.
• Strong research writing analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases independently and collaboratively.
• J.D. from an accredited law school required.

• Salary Bands:

  • 2 to 3 years relevant civil litigation experience: $130000 to $145000

  • 4 to 5 years general liability defense experience: $145000 to $160000

  • 6 to 7 years strong GL defense experience with courtroom/deposition experience: $160000 to $170000

  • Trial experience may justify the higher end depending on JD year and fit.
