The Opportunity: The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks to fill a full-time continuous career track (clinical sub-track) Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position within the Neurology and Neurosurgery section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).

The successful applicant will provide clinical service within the Neurology/Neurosurgery service while providing clinical and didactic instruction of
professional veterinary students interns and residents. Opportunities may exist for scholarship/research within the candidates area of interest and consistent with the appointed faculty rank and division of effort. Successful applicants should be able to effectively communicate and work collegially and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Annual Salary Range:

Assistant Professor: $150000 - $165000 Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Associate Professor: $165000 - $180000 Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM VMD) degree or a related foreign equivalent degree (such as a BVSc) and be board-eligible in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN) or board-certified by the date of hire.

Considerations regarding faculty rank will be determined based on the interests and qualifications of the candidate as will division of effort. Candidates for Associate Professor should have evidence of progressively higher levels of experience and expertise in the provision of outstanding clinical service clinical teaching and/or research/scholarship. The WSU CVM is organized into five departments/schools including VCS Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology (VMP) Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience (IPN) the School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB) and the Paul G. The Neurology and Neurosurgery service is currently rebuilding and presently comprises a board-certified neurologist 3 locum neurologists a dedicated team of one licensed veterinary technician an assistant a resident and a patient care coordinator. Neurodiagnostic capabilities in the VTH include in-house magnetic resonance imaging computed tomography and electrodiagnostic equipment. Our surgical facility is equipped with a full range of neurosurgical equipment including an operating microscope a stereotactic brain biopsy system and a Nico Myraid for tumor resection. Our physical rehabilitation facility is equipped with an underwater treadmill electric muscle stimulator therapeutic laser therapeutic ultrasound and acupuncture and is under the supervision of an American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR) board-certified specialist.
