Job Description Summary:

Provide research assistance to the Enterprise Project Management Office User Experience team.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Collaborate with managers and stakeholders to gather and evaluate user requirements.

  • Design and plan one-on-one studies including crafting clear and actionable research goals.

  • Conduct user research analyze findings and synthesize themes and patterns.

  • Translate research insights into design ideas using storyboards process flows sitemaps and prototypes.

  • Support the design of information architecture UI elements (menus tabs widgets) and page navigation components.

  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes to help communicate site functionality and user experience concepts.

Knowledge

  • Design thinking methodologies e.g. double diamond process iteration and empathy.

  • Storytelling skills

  • Office procedures and practices.

  • Customer service techniques.

Skills

  • Able to create momentum by clarifying requirements outlining research and proposing design directions at the beginning of projects when things are unstructured and messy.

  • Be flexible and patient when projects change direction or go through several rounds of refinement.

  • Perform thorough user research by recruiting participants conducting sessions analyzing the results and deriving actionable insights.

  • Create artifacts related to UX including but not limited to personas wireframes (from low to high with annotations) prototypes research reports empathy maps mood boards storyboards design specifications usability reports journey maps site maps and user flows.

  • Comfortable initiating conversations with people you havent met before to recruit them for quick interviews or observations.

  • Prioritize the project vision and user needs over personal preferences.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

  • Create high-quality slide decks and confidently present to large groups or in one-on-one settings both in person and virtually.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Maintaining an established work schedule.

  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills.

  • Entering data maintaining files and performing other clerical duties.

  • Effective customer-orientation when working with a multicultural population.

Technology Skills

  • Wireframe tools (e.g. Figma)

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator Photoshop)

  • Google Workspace: Docs Sheets and Slides

  • Whiteboard tools such as Miro

  • Project Management software such as Asana

  • Use a variety of spreadsheet word processing database and presentation software.

  • May also use social media work with desktop publishing and update webpages.

Required Education

  • Applicants must:

    • Be presently enrolled at Austin Community College

    • Have completed one of the following courses:UXUI 1376 Information Architecture UXUI 2376 Design Research

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment.

  • Subject to standing walking sitting bending reaching kneeling pushing and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
