SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The primary responsibilityof this position is to assist in the management of the track program includingassisting with coaching athletes who specialize in throwing events. Theassistant will also help with recruitment of qualified prospectivestudent-athletes travel planning fundraising efforts community outreachprojects team promotion and other daily projects as assigned by the HeadCoach. HSU is a member of NCAA Division III and the American SouthwestConference. This is a full-time staff position.

HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coaching Works with athletes in thetrack program who participate in throwing events (Discus Hammer ThrowJavelin Shot Put).

Recruiting Telephone callsattendance at track meets as well as letters and written correspondence topotential student athletes / planning and executing campus visits for recruits.

Assist with camps and clinics.

Football Tailgate- Will be the maincontact person for the football tailgate for all home football games.

Marketing- Responsible for marketingspecial events for each sport to help promote fan attendance.

Game Day Administrator-Volleyball -- Willattend all home volleyball matches and will serve as the

Game Day Administratorfor all home matches.

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES (Language Mathematical Reasoning and Computer Skills):

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safetyrules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Abilityto write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectivelybefore groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to addsubtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numberscommon fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent andto draw and interpret bar graphs

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully anindividual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheetsoftware; Human Resources systems Contact Management systems Internetsoftware; and Synergy editing system.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree from four-year college oruniversity required.

Prior track coaching or playing experience at the high school and/or college levelis required.

Prior recruiting experience with evaluationrelationship building and recruitment of student-athletes is required.

Must have proficient computer skills strong workethic and effective communication skills.

Must also have excellent organizational skills ascandidates will be required to provide examples of their ability to plan andorganize.

The above requirements will be validated through the writtencompetencies provided by the applicant in addition to the interview process andreference checks regarding past employment experience etc.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

Current CPR AED and First Aid certificationsrequired (or must be obtained). .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is a full time Exempt Level Staff Position which oftenrequires extended hours beyond a 40-hour work week especially duringbasketball season and while recruiting

Frequent overnight travel is required including eveningsand weekends especially during track season.

Occasionally holiday work is also required dependingon meet/practice schedule.

Additional travel may be required on occasion toattend training workshops.

Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Drivers License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.

Must be able to drive tocomplete work assignments on and off campus as needed.
