Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Head Swim Coach this position is assists with swim team practices and swim meets as needed. Nights and Sundays required.
*Must have active Lifeguard Certifications. (ex. YMCA Red Cross)

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
  • Provide quality and consistency in all assigned workouts throughout all levels of ability.
  • Attend meets and practices as needed.
  • Write and implement workouts for each practice as instructed by head coach.
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
  • Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships understand each individuals goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • No experience necessary training to be completed on site. Competitive swimming or coaching experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
  • At times be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Primarily evening and weekends some weekends will require early morning practices or meets.
  • Travel will be necessary to meets and potentially practice sites.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

REQUIRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Child Abuse Prevention (within first four weeks of employment)
  • Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention)
  • CPR First Aid O2
  • YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving
  • USA Swimming Certification (as required by location)
  • Safety Training for Coaches or YMCA Lifeguarding
