JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION

Reports to:Directorof Transportation

Employment Status:Regular/Full-time

NOTE:The below lists are not ranked in order of importance.

DAYS: 228/260

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four year degree from accredited college OR equivalent
experience
2. Evidence of satisfactory experience in transportation and
supervision
3. Must be knowledgeable in State and Federal transportation
law as well as Ohio Department of Education pupil
transportation regulations

4. Must havae or obtain and maintain CDL certification
5. Must be knowledgeable in transportation routing software

RESPONSIBILITY:

Assists the Director of Transportation in all aspects of the
supervision and coordination of the Canton City School District pupil
transportation system including:
1. Assignment of buses drivers and substitutes to routes
2. Recruiting and training bus drivers and other transportation
personnel
3. Working with school officials to meet their transportation
needs
4. Community relations handling complaints and requests from
parents and the public
5. Grievance procedure and employee discipline
6. Regulatory and reporting requirements
7. Budgeting and the planning and purchasing of necessary
supplies and equipment
8. Creating and adjusting bus routes and stops
9. Overseeing the maintenance housing security & servicing of
vehicles
10. Developing emergency transportation procedures and a bus
safety program
11. All other duties as assigned
