Job Summary:

As an Assistant Roadmaster youll support the Roadmaster in leading Maintenance of Way teams and ensuring safe reliable railroad infrastructure. This position will perform track inspections. Youll work outdoors in all weather conditions overseeing the maintenance and repair activities of your team across a territory. Also supporting collaboration across departments and drive progress on track and capital projects. This role fits a clear communicator who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Full-time (40 plus hours weekly)
• Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights holidays weekends and on-call
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contact
• Able to squat bend and lift overhead with extended periods of kneeling or crouching (bending at the knees)
• Frequent lifting of equipment and tools up to 76 pounds

Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated ability to self-motivate; prioritize; promote safe work habits; and manage budgetary constraints
• 3 years in the rail industry is a plus
• Able to complete written forms and reports as required
• Able to read and interpret documents including safety rules manuals and regulations
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office applications reporting etc.)
• Possess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environment

Required Education and Credentials:

• High school diploma GED and prior experience as a Track Inspector
• RWP and 213.7 qualified
• Valid drivers license
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is a plus or able to obtain one if required
• At least 18 years of age

Employment Requirements:

• Pre-employment physical hearing and vision medical review
• Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
• Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history

Relocation:

Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance may be offered for this position.
