Job Summary
- Reviews computer forensic analysis reports.
- Presents cases to the Grand Jury.
- Prepares and litigates the States case before a judge or jury.
- Prepares search warrants for residences Internet accounts cell phone accounts and electronic storage devices.
- Participates in pretrial conferences with defense counsel and at times the Court.
- Makes contact with victims witnesses and law enforcement agencies for trial preparation.
- Researches and prepares or responds to pre-trial motions and advocate the States position at oral hearings.
- Researches and responds to defense motions for discovery and advocate the States position at oral hearings.
- Participates in suppression hearings forfeiture hearings and other types of hearings dealing with both evidentiary and legal issues.
- Attends and participates in sentencing hearings.
- Participates in community outreach events including but not limited to parent and student presentations on the dangers of the Internet.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
- Must be available to meet and work outside the normal working hours for trial preparation and to advise law enforcement.
- Demonstrated success as a prosecutor in all aspects of felony litigation.
- Preferred experience as a first chair prosecutor in criminal jury trials.
- Preferred experience as a second chair prosecutor in rape jury trials.
- Preferred knowledge of computers and computer operating systems.
- Must possess excellent research and writing skills; requisite understanding of relevant constitutional law and criminal procedure.
- Demonstrated success in dealing with detectives representatives of the medical examiners office and other outside agencies.
- Must possess qualities of fairness a strong work ethic have the highest integrity; and must also maintain the confidentiality of law enforcement and investigatory records and other confidential information.
- Must be able to conduct business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative Code.
- Confidentiality is essential.
- Office practices and procedures; Ohio Criminal Statutes; Ohio Rules of Criminal Procedures; Ohio Rules of Evidence Axon Microsoft Office primarily Word and Outlook.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form; develop and maintain working relationships with the Asst. Team Leader and team members judges witnesses other attorneys police officers and other court personnel; Litigate complex and serious criminal issues; Train and instruct team members.
- Full-time role; paid bi-weekly; paid vacation sick time two annual personal days.
