Assistant Professor, Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Butler University (Indianapolis IN) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Developmental Psychology or Child Clinical Psychology to start in August 2027. We seek a colleague who is committed to inclusive undergraduate teaching and collaborative research with undergraduate students. The Butler Psychology Department values candidates who share our commitment to engagement and inclusion of students faculty and staff with diverse backgrounds perspectives and experiences.

Successful applicants will be broadly trained in psychology and will be ready to teach in a multidisciplinary university core curriculum. Standard teaching load is nine (9) credit hours per semester plus an active program of research involving undergraduate collaborators. We seek colleagues who will be ready to teach required psychology courses such as research methods and statistics introductory psychology lifespan development abnormal psychology and/or personality as well as upper-level electives in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based and engaged-learning pedagogies and to building an inclusive classroom environment for an increasingly diverse student body.

This position requires full-time in-person instruction. A Ph.D. in Developmental or Child Clinical Psychology (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment is required. Applicants with research specializations engaging critical perspectives and/or focused on areas related to diversity are especially encouraged to apply.

The Butler University Psychology Department is housed in the Sally Beck Suite of the newly renovated Holcomb building and includes faculty offices labs and classrooms.
