The School of Management at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Strategy starting mid-August 2027 subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree or will have completed all degree requirements by the academic year obligation start date (August 16 2027). We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in Management or other interdisciplinary fields (i.e. sustainability psychology etc.). The school is non-departmentalized and faculty work with colleagues from a number of management disciplines.

The salary and benefits package are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. To support faculty research SOM provides summer funding for the first three years of service.

The start date for the position is August 16 2027.

The School of Management (SOM) holds separate AACSB accreditations in Business and Accounting and is nationally recognized for its success in developing future business leaders. Faculty in the School of Management have a strong collegial relationship and regularly collaborate on research topics that integrate micro/macro levels and various disciplines leverage different methodological perspectives (e.g. qualitative quantitative and mixed-method approaches) and utilize extant multilevel and other advanced analytical tools. We are seeking a researcher who would complement this orientation with strong methodological and analytical foundations with a willingness to engage in multilevel and interdisciplinary research.

Faculty have published in high-quality journals that include: Academy of Management Journal Journal of Applied Psychology Marketing Science Management Science Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Journal Journal of Business Ethics Journal of Management Journal of Management Studies Leadership Quarterly Organizational Research Methods Organization Studies Organization Science and Personnel Psychology. Additionally our faculty have received external funding from federal agencies including: Army Research Institute Department of Defense Federal Emergency Management Association and the National Science Foundation.

• Produce original and innovative research to be published in top-tier business academic journals.
• Deliver required/elective courses in strategy at the undergraduate and graduate program levels. The standard teaching load is 22 per academic year.
• Actively participate in the schools graduate programs and graduate student advising.
• Contribute to the school the university and the professional community by providing appropriate service through involvement in committees shared governance undertakings curriculum development and assessment.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Management or other interdisciplinary fields (i.e. sustainability psychology etc.) or have completed all degree requirements (including securing valid immigration status and work authorization if applicable) by the academic year obligation start date (August 16 2027).
• Demonstrated potential to establish a successful track record of scholarly research. This can be substantiated by providing copies of published articles submitted manuscripts and work-in-progress papers aimed at publication in top-tier journals.
• Evidence of a strong and active research agenda focused on strategic management topics (e.g. competitive advantage corporate strategy innovation entrepreneurship global strategy or corporate governance).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated multilevel research skills.
• Demonstrated innovative teaching capabilities.
• Demonstrated analytical quantitative and data management training directed towards addressing strategic business challenges and improving managerial decision-making.
