Job Summary

The Psychology Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1 2027. We seek candidates with expertise in cognitive psychology especially those who study language and/or memory. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience at the college level and be enthusiastic about working closely with undergraduate students. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom creativity and intellectual curiosity. The Psychology Department consisting of nine continuing faculty members (four who contribute heavily to the Neuroscience Program) has a strong tradition of excellence in teaching and research and is housed in a state- of-the-art unified science center. Candidates who are ABD will be considered although candidates with a PhD are preferred. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter including some combination of foundational courses (e.g. Introduction to Psychology Statistics Research Design) courses in the candidates specialty area and supervision of senior research projects. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $94500 to $100360.
