Assistant Professor of Operations Management

40% Research:

• Develop and sustain an active program of scholarly research in operations management and related fields leading to publications in high-quality academic journals scholarly presentations and other research contributions

40% Teaching:

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in operations management and related disciplines. Contribute to student learning through instruction mentoring advising curriculum development and other educational activities that support the mission of the School of Business.

20% Service:

• Engage in service activities that support the area school university profession and broader community. Contribute through committee participation professional engagement outreach student support activities and other service contributions appropriate to rank and expertise.

Position Overview
The School of Business at the University of Kansas is conducting a search for a tenure-track faculty position in Operations and Supply-Chain Management for the 2027-28 academic year. The appointment will be made at rank of Assistant Professor. This is a full-time tenure-track position beginning August 18 2027.

Successful candidates will be expected to continue to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through high quality publications in leading academic journals to teach courses with rigorous academic content at the undergraduate masters and doctoral level and to engage in service and outreach activities that advance the educational mission of the School of Business and the University of Kansas. While all areas of operations/supply chain will be considered emphasis might be given to the emerging topics of blockchain digital transformation of supply chain and supply-chain analytics.

The University of Kansas School of Business offers undergraduate masters (full-time and online) and doctoral recent years the School has experienced remarkable growth expanding academic offerings with student enrollment approaching 5000 students. The School of Business is located on KUs main campus in Lawrence in Capitol Federal Hall a modern instructional facility with advanced classrooms offices and student resources. 1. A Ph.D. in a discipline directly related to Operations and Supply Chain Management. (must be earned by August 18 2027).
2. Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) scholarship excellence as shown through publications in leading academic journals in operations management and/or business analytics and promising research projects and papers targeted to leading journals.
3. Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) teaching excellence in supply-chain management and/or business analytics with a special focus on contemporary and emerging topics.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
