The Department is interdisciplinary drawing from the fields of counseling social work family studies and human development gerontology psychology addiction studies anthropology and public health. We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services with concentrations in mental health addiction studies and elementary education.

Position
Area of specialty: Mental health and/or Addiction studies with an emphasis on clinical/direct service engagement utilizing an integrated approach working with individuals families and/or communities. The department is especially interested in candidates who align with our mission to prepare undergraduate students to serve diverse populations and whose teaching research and service reflect a commitment to equity belonging and social justice. The primary responsibilities include:

• Teaching at the undergraduate level
• Engaging in scholarship and other scholarly creative activities
• Serving the department college university community and the profession; for example mentoring students and participating in campus and system-wide committees working collaboratively within the University and the communitieswe serve as well as participating in traditional academic functions.

Required Qualifications

• An earned doctorate in human services or a closely related field (e.g. counseling social work psychology public health family studies and human development applied anthropology) from an accredited institution before appointment.
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds with an understanding of the impact of lived experiences on student learning
• Ability to teach lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses related to mental health addiction studies case management and community-based interventions.
• Experience in providing clinical and/or applied services to individuals families and/or communities particularly those impacted by mental health addiction or related challenges using culturally responsive approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research and scholarly work in one or more relevant areas: mental health addiction or family/community systems.
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a culturally diverse campus community.

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate teaching experience
• Experience with evidence-based approaches to teaching and community engagement
• Potential to secure external funding to support research or community-engaged initiatives

The College and Department
Our department is located within the College of Health and Human Development. Mission of our department is: Through the application of theory research and self-reflection the Human Services Department prepares students to serve diverse individuals families and communities. You can find additional information about our department at Assistant Professor (2026-2027) classification salary range is $6221 to $13224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6808 to $6944 per month.
