The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in Fall 2027. Priority will be given to candidates in Algebra broadly defined including but not limited to:

• algebraic number theory
• algebraic geometry
• arithmetic geometry
• commutative algebra
• (geometric and modular) representation theory
• algebraic K-theory
• Lie algebras

The successful candidate must have a strong record of research and teaching and would complement and/or strengthen our existing research groups. Current research areas in the department include:

• algebra
• analysis
• applied and computational mathematics
• combinatorics
• geometry/topology
• probability
• statistics

Required Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in mathematical sciences or a closely related field by August 16 2027

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research focuses on algebra broadly defined
• Experience teaching mathematics in a higher education institution
