40% Research: Develop and sustain an active program of scholarly research in finance and related fields leading to publications in high-quality academic journals scholarly presentations and other research contributions

40% Teaching: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance and related disciplines. Contribute to student learning through instruction mentoring advising curriculum development and other educational activities that support the mission of the School of Business.

20% Service: Engage in service activities that support the area school university profession and broader community. Contribute through committee participation professional engagement outreach student support activities and other service contributions appropriate to rank and expertise.

Required Qualifications
For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor:

1. A Ph.D. degree in Finance or related field (must be earned by August 18 2027).
2. Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) scholarship excellence as shown through publications and working papers.
3. Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) teaching excellence.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.



Position Overview
The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for up to two Assistant Professors in Finance for the 2027-28 academic year. These are full-time academic-year tenure-track positions.

Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through high quality publications in leading academic journals to teach courses with rigorous academic content at the undergraduate masters and doctoral level and to engage in service and outreach activities that advance the educational mission of the School of Business and the University of Kansas.
