Job Description
The Department of Computing & Information Sciences at Winthrop University is seeking to fill two full-time tenure-track faculty vacancies at the assistant professor level starting in Fall 2027. Successful candidates will join a collegial teaching-focused environment that serves six different computing-oriented degree programs including traditional ABET -accredited computer science cybersecurity artificial intelligence web development computing information systems and software engineering. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning and development as well as the ability to engage in active scholarship in their fields. We are looking for education-focused individuals with a broad background in computer science and the ability to teach a variety of computing courses. Candidates with backgrounds in software engineering or web development are of interest for at least one position though all interested candidates with strong general computer science backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in computer science or strongly related field. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and strong commitment to student learning and development including interest in undergraduate research. Evidence of an ability to maintain an active scholarship agenda. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor students.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience and interest in software engineering or web development will be preferred for at least one position though all interested candidates with strong general backgrounds in computing programs are encouraged to apply.
