Assistant Principal for Student Services Anticipatory

• 12-month Administrator assigned to Glenbard East
• Focus is on student support services financial assistance supervision and discipline school spirit and student involvement

• Prior experience of at least five years in secondary classroom teaching and three years administrative experience
• Dynamic leadership qualities that building strong relationships with students and staff
• Clear communication skills (both written and oral)
• ESL preferred

• Direct report to Principal

STANDARD #1: Living a Mission and Vision Focused on Results
The assistant principal works with the staff and community to build a shared mission and vision of high expectations that ensure all students are on the path to college and career readiness and hold staff accountable for results.

1. Coordinates student service personnel such as school counseling department chair school nurse dean of students social worker interventionist school psychologist speech pathologist and special education.
2. Develop Student Handbook.

STANDARD #2: Leading and Managing Systems Change
The assistant principal creates and implements systems to ensure a safe orderly and productive environment for student and adult learning for the purpose of achieving school and district improvement targets.

1. Supervise the issuance and use of student hall lockers parking permits and visitors passes.
2. Coordinate restorative intervention assignments (RIA) behavior intervention assignments (BIA) detentions and supervised study halls.
3. Approve all pay vouchers connected with student services.
4. Assist in the development and supervision of the activity budget.

STANDARD #3: Improving Teaching and Learning
The assistant principal works with the school staff and community to develop a research-based framework for effective teaching and learning that is refined continuously to improve instruction for all students.

1. Select assign supervise and evaluate para-professionals.
2. Coordinate freshmen and transfer students transition and orientation.
3. Evaluate licensed staff.
4. Assist with student growth as measured by data.

STANDARD #4: Building and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships
The assistant principal creates a collaborative school community where the school staff students families and community interact regularly and share ownership for the success of the school.

1. Communicate with parents students and teachers regarding student discipline and attendance.
2. Assist and consult with local community agencies connected with student services.
3. Supervise and coordinate free and reduced lunch and waiver applications.

STANDARD #5: Leading with Integrity and Professionalism
The assistant principal works with the school staff and community to create a positive learning environment by ensuring equity fulfilling professional responsibilities with honesty and integrity and modeling professional behavior.

1. Coordinate assignment of extra-curricular assignments as outlined in Appendix B of the Professional Agreement with the Glenbard Education Association.
2. Design programs to meet the needs of low income students.
3. Design programs that support multi-cultures and student diversity.

STANDARD #6: Creating and Sustaining a Culture of High Expectations
The assistant principal works with staff and community to build a culture of high expectations and aspirations for every student by setting clear staff and student expectations for positive learning behaviors and by focusing on students social-emotional learning.

1. Make staff extra duty assignments.
2. Supervise at school events; design and coordinate administrative and licensed staff supervisory assignments.
3. Facilitate PBIS and other climate related programs.
