The Assistant Mens Coach for Rodeo Operations supports the Department of Rodeo Activities through operational coordination student support assessment efforts and daily program execution that advance the mission and goals of Tarleton State University and the Division of Student Engagement and Success. This position assists with the oversight of rodeo operations and special events supports livestock care and arena operations contributes to student development and supervision and assists with program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting recruitment and engagement activities coordinating operational needs maintaining compliance with departmental processes and contributing to strategic and administrative initiatives that enhance the student experience.
Work hours: MondayFriday; 8:00 AM5:00 PM or as work requirements indicate. This position is located in Stephenville Texas with occasional travel required in support of university operations events and departmental initiatives. This position serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Duties and Responsibilities
60%Coaching Duties: Provide visionary leadership to enhance the Department of Rodeo Activities. Responsible for helping with all mens events coaching in both arenas. Responsible for helping with the Annual NIRA rodeo jackpots all projects at the arena and helping with all fundraisers. Help with all recruiting needs. Responsible for helping with daily livestock care and feeding stall area and arena upkeep.
10%Supervision: Oversee all student workers and students who help with feeding and livestock care.
10%Assessment and Evaluation: Helps to develop implement and evaluate departmental goals policies organizational structure and program effectiveness. Responsible for helping with all assessment activities for the department and responsible for helping with producing annual reports.
10%Professional Development: Participate in appropriate professional development activities related to the effective completion of professional responsibilities. Stay up to date on all trainings.
10%Other: Represents the department and the Division of Student Engagement and Success at University functions when appropriate. Assumes responsibility for other special projects and committee work as delegated. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Agriculture Animal Science Equine Studies Sports Management Recreation or related field; combination of education and experience may be considered as appropriate.
Two years experience incollege or competitive rodeo(coaching and/or participation) hands-on experience with:livestock care and feeding arena operations and maintenance. Prior experienceworking with or supervising students(student workers or teams) and experience supportingevents fundraisers or recruiting activities
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge ofNIRA rodeo structure and operations
Ability to assist withcoaching mens rodeo events in both arenas
Organizational skills foroperations reporting and assessments
Ability to assist withprogram evaluation and administrative tasks
Other Requirements
Ability to workflexible hours and travel occasionally
Ability to performphysical tasks related to livestock care and arena work
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $59934 up to $75000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
