At S&C we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $96514 - $127887 per year.This role is also eligible for S&Cs annual short-term incentive bonus subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as an Assistant Manager!

S&Cs U.S. Fabrication Organization consists of multiple departments responsible for the manufacturing of most piece parts used to build a vast array of S&C products. This organization is committed to the manufacturing and on-time delivery of these parts and the development of lean manufacturing techniques throughout our operations. This is a fast-paced lean environment focused on meeting Key Performance Indicator goals while implementing significant process changes. This position requires an individual who has demonstrated high regard for people by treating them with dignity respect fairness and consistency with a proven track record of providing successful change while focusing on safety quality and productivity. This role reports to the Manager-Fabrication.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing and implementing processes to continue transformation and adoption of Lean Manufacturing concepts in order to effectively meet all department goals
  • Direct responsibility for day and night shift fabrication operations in Dept. 463
  • Determining needs and scheduling employee work assignments to meet department goals.
  • Developing and implementing processes to improve quality delivery productivity and assure safe performance of all functions in the department through the use of KPI boards
  • Coaching and counseling direct reports and participating in establishing appropriate development plans
  • Anticipating investigating and resolving departmental problems and conflicts.
  • Promoting safety awareness and housekeeping and investigating and reporting on safety incidents.
  • Contributing input for departmental budgets.
  • Writing and conducting employee reviews

To select this job as one of interest to you at a minimum you must have the following:

  • Minimum four year college degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of production supervisory experience in high and low volume environments where multiple shifts of operation were in play.
  • Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership sustained improvements and KPI attainment.
  • A history of team member development for upward mobility.
  • Technical aptitude and knowledge of metal fabrication machining and finishing processes and equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills e.g. 4-Step Problem Solving process.
  • Proven team building and change management skills to coach mentor and empower team members throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and good PC skills.

Physical demands:

  • Standing: Occasionally required to stand and perform tasks for up to approximately 2 hours at a time 5 days per week
  • Sitting: Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based or production tasks for up to approximately 2 hours at a time 5 days per week
  • Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S and C campus multiple times per day 5 days per week
  • Lifting and Carrying: Infrequently required to solo lift and/or carry items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 40 lbs exercising sound judgement to employ manual handling or machine lifts where required and risk assessments if appropriate
  • Low Posture: Infrequently required to perform tasks using a low posture including but not limited to stooping bending crawling crouching kneeling or squatting
  • Position Self/ Move: Occasionally required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching twisting rotating and pushing/pulling
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools
  • Ascending/ Descending: Infrequently ascending or descending ladders and stairs
  • Observation/ Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception peripheral vision and the ability to differentiate between colors
  • Communication: Continuously required to talk and hear in person and by phone/conference calls using oral expression to communicate information
  • Availability: Occasionally required to work extended hours when necessary
