Primary Responsibilities
Position Summary: Sul Ross State University a member of NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference invites applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach Defensive Backs. This full-time role is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the football program including on-field coaching recruiting academic support and operations. The successful candidate will contribute to player development team culture and program success. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of practice plans and game strategies. Coach a designated position group and contribute to team success on and off the field. Participate in scouting film breakdown and opponent analysis. Recruit prospective student-athletes and maintain communication throughout the recruiting process. Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and promote a culture of accountability. Support travel planning equipment management and camp operations as assigned. Represent the football program in community engagement and university functions. Ensure compliance with NCAA Lone Star Conference and university regulations and policies. Work Environment: Evening and weekend hours required during the football season and recruiting cycles. Travel required for games recruiting and camps. Physical activity required for practice demonstration and sideline duties. Security Sensitive: This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094 which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants. Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.
