NDDOT Salary: $9865 per month
Lead and support the Local Government Division including supervising the Rural Section and other sections as needed and filling in for the Division Engineer.
Guide operations and policy development for rural and local programs ensuring effective management and compliance.
Provide leadership to section leads and staff through mentoring performance management coaching and fostering a culture of innovation.
Collaborate with supervisors and HR on hiring job classifications evaluations and addressing performance or behavior issues.
Assist in strategic planning budget monitoring and implementation of Division goals including facilitating training for team members and partners.
Direct and oversee federal and state-funded local programs including allocations programming compliance and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Provide oversight and technical support to 53 counties and 1300 townships including complex project development bridge inspection/load rating programs and emergency relief efforts.
Lead administration of specialized programs such as Transportation Alternatives Historic Bridge Missile Road LPA Bridge Inspection and Emergency Relief.
Ensure quality assurance of environmental documents participate in field reviews and PS&E meetings and conduct Project Management Reviews.
Champion new technologies and process improvements maintain division manuals and technical publications and collaborate with cross functional teams.
Build strong partnerships with counties townships consultants Tribal governments MPOs and other stakeholders through regular meetings communication and onsite engagement.
Coordinate multi-year project planning programming and funding recommendations for county transportation alternatives and historic bridge projects.
Collaborate with internal divisions districts committees and advisory groups to review develop and advance local road projects policies manuals and technical tools.
Represent the Department and Division on key committees serve as Tribal Liaison and participate in statewide and federal coordination efforts.
Review plans and documents provide technical guidance evaluate proposals and contribute expertise through work teams loan scoring and advisory board participation.
Minimum Qualifications
Registration as professional engineer in North Dakota
Two years of supervisory or administrative transportation engineering work experience and
Five years of project management experience including plan review design survey and/or materials testing.
Requires a class D drivers license for travel to meetings and project locations.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.
