Description

The Assistant Director of Residential Education is a professional-level full-time live-on 12-month position within the Department of Residential Life. As a key member of the central-office administrative team in the Residential Life department the Assistant Director is responsible for establishing and executing the departments goals developing departmental systems and managing staff in support of the departments mission to create and develop a supportive educational environment that fosters learning outside of the classroom develops students holistically and supports the academic success recruitment and retention of residential students. As a key leader in the department this individual understands and upholds not only the departments mission but the Universitys mission as well and respects its Catholic values and identity.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Director works closely under the supervision of the Director of Residential Life and has a multitude of responsibilities in a variety of Residential Life functional areas including but not limited to:

Residential Education:

  • Serves as lead for RA training including Fall and Spring/Winter training and ongoing in-service training/development throughout the year. Including but not limited to:
    • Planning and organizing training schedules.
    • Managing all logistics pertaining to training including booking spaces on campus vendors and outside offices for presentations.
    • Developing learning outcomes and appropriate assessments for the training programs and training as a whole.
  • Serve as the lead for RA Recruitment and Hiring
    • Developing recruitment and hiring timeline annually
    • Creating and executing a marketing plan for the position including information sessions for perspective candidates.
  • Oversight & development of the Front Desk program.
    • Administrative oversight of NextGen and WhenToWork systems
  • Work in tandem with Director on all aspects of residential education and programming
  • Develop effective and appropriate assessment of residential education and programming in order to help inform the ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of Departmental efforts.

Additional Departmental Responsibilities:

  • Supervise two full-time RHDs
  • Participate in Administrator On-Call duty rotation.
  • Work in tandem with Director and AssociateDirector on RHD training and development plan
  • Work in tandem with Director and AssociateDirector for RHD RA and crisis management manual updates.
  • Represent the department at the University and within assigned committees
  • Develop relationships with key departments that contribute to resident student development satisfaction and success
  • Participate in divisional and University-wide functions programs projects and initiatives including admissions recruitment events and other activities.
  • Co-Lead the department in the absence of the director.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned



    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Masters degree in Higher Education Administration College Student Personnel Counseling or related field.
    • Two to Four years of professional experience in Student Affairs Administration. Live-in Residence life experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience in student development and leadership
