Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Recreation the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Programs and Marketing manages supervises budgets develops and implements policies and procedures and evaluates all Campus Recreation Programs both revenue- and non-revenue-generating. These include all student-focused initiatives such as Special Events Rec Nights Rec Board Programs events and Marketing. Additional responsibilities include hiring training and scheduling student staff; overseeing inventory management; coordinating facility improvements and repairs; directing departmental marketing efforts including social media website content all marketing channels; and managing catering orders for programs and events. Duties encompass administrative supervisory and programmatic responsibilities for the Department of Campus Recreation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and manage all Campus Recreation Programs such as Special Events Rec Nights Community Service Sports and Summer Programs including development promotion execution assessment and recommendations for improvement.
Assist with strategic planning by establishing and recommending goals policies and procedures that align with the universitys standards; recommend enhancements to improve program performance and outcomes.
Develop new programs and offerings that meet departmental and student needs.
Coordinate program operations monitor progress set performance standards analyze participation and demographic data and provide guidance to professional staff and student leaders.
Supervise program staff conduct performance evaluations manage personnel actions and set expectations for professional staff coordinators(s) under supervision.
Meet regularly with professional staff to review performance evaluate student employees and advise on personnel decisions and approve student staff hiring processes.
Manage program budgets for Campus Recreation Programs in collaboration with area coordinators; set revenue goals assess results and adjust strategies as needed.
Generate detailed reports by compiling analyzing and interpreting data to develop findings and recommendations
Assess risk management and safety compliance across all programs in partnership with professional staff.
Meet regularly with the director or associate director to align program goals resolve issues and discuss strategic direction.
Advises Campus Recreations student-led RecBoard.
Coordinate Campus Rec Cares initiatives including blood drives sponsorships donations and more. Organize volunteer activities fund-raising initiatives and special programs (e.g. Friends Day Red Hawk Run).
Work closely with division staff to identify university-wide programs that require departmental involvement. Coordinates departmental participation in events like Red Hawk Day and Welcome Week Homecoming Greek Week Spring Week and others. Serve on university-wide committees and programs including MSU Homecoming Fall Welcome Week Move-In Day and Red Hawk Day.
Serve on divisional search committees and other standing or ad hoc committees.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators faculty staff students student organizations external agencies and the surrounding community.
Administer and interpret applicable federal and/or state laws and Regulations.
Advise and counsels students parents and/or alumni regarding program offerings activities and services.
Assist with facility supervision policy enforcement employee performance oversight and crisis response.
Provide input on facility repairs aesthetic improvements and equipment needs in collaboration with departmental staff.
Represents and acts for the director or associate director as directed.
Prepare correspondence and provide guidance when complex issues arise.
Maintain integrity and uphold integrity in all operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Masters degree from an accredited university in Marketing Communications Higher Education Recreation Sport Management Psychology or a related field.
Minimum of two years of professional experience supervising campus recreation programs developing community-based and revenue-generating programs or a related field.
Strong computer skills and thorough familiarity with social media technology (FB TikTok Instagram etc.).
Weekend and evening availability as needed.
PREFERRED:
Special Events and Community Service programming experience in a college setting.
Ability to acquire considerable knowledge of the program or units purpose goals and objectives.
Basic knowledge of the principles of budget planning development and administration.
Proficiency in Fusion Software Management systems.
Ability to acquire a wide knowledge of college policies and procedures.
Ability to assist in the planning and administration of a program or unit by developing and recommending goals policies and procedures.
Ability to evaluate performance and develop alternative methods to improve performance and meet established objectives.
CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification before the start date.
Lead development of marketing and promotional plans for events programs and memberships.

Salary Range
