About the Opportunity

Summary:

The Assistant Director of Cross-Center Engagement and Leadership supports the Center for Intercultural Engagements (CIEs) efforts to engage across all Cultural and Spiritual Life (CSL) Centers student life offices and academic units to build connections coordinate programming and support students with intersecting identities who move between multiple CSL spaces and campus programs.

Reporting to the Associate Director this position collaborates with the Director and Associate Director team to develop and implement student engagement strategies that serve a diverse population across Northeasterns global campuses. The Assistant Director advances cultural literacy and care by curating cross-cultural programming and making intercultural learning accessible to all students.

The role also holds shared responsibility for program assessment operational processes and day-to-day Center functions including space management student employee supervision and contributions to signature events and programs. The Assistant Director may also provide direct student support through mentorship advising and referrals in partnership with Center staff.

The CIE is embedded within Northeastern Universitys Cultural and Spiritual Life unit which is dedicated to the support celebration and advancement of cultural identity and affinity. The CIEs programming aims to foster communal traditions and intersectional identities advance intercultural dialogue and community-building skills and promote holistic growth. It also seeks to build bridges with local national and global communities; promote wellness through self-care practices; and advance civic engagement as students work to build a more just peaceful and sustainable world.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a related field and 1-3 years of experience working with diverse or socially vulnerable populationsor an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working across multiple departments centers or units on collaborative programming or student support initiatives.
• Proven experience in curriculum development for leadership or intercultural programs.
• Demonstrated experience advising and mentoring student organizations particularly cultural or identity-based affinity groups.
• Experience supervising student staff and managing daily office operations.
• Experience with program assessment data collection and evaluation methods.
• Experience planning and executing large-scale events and signature programs.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead the development and coordination of programming that connects students across all CSL centers with particular attention to students with intersecting or multiple cultural spiritual and identity-based affiliations.
• Develop and implement a curriculum for student leadership development student-facing intercultural programs and training for staff and faculty partners.
• Support supervising and advising student leaders including facilitating monthly meetings with all cultural and identity-based student organization leaders and coordinating periodic leadership training.
• Support the planning and execution of CIEs collaborative events and major programming initiatives such as the annual Symposium mini-grants program CIEs EMPOWER Fellows Program etc.
• Provide direct one-on-one support and mentoring to students including initiating referrals to campus resources as appropriate.
• Recruit train manage and supervise student staff in conjunction with the Associate Director.
• Process contracts document program expenditures and manage administrative components of program planning.
• Assess evaluate and document programs and services.
