Job Title: Assistant Development Officer Athletics

Division: University Advancement

Job Summary

The assistant development officer athletics advancement is responsible for annual giving alumni engagement and stewardship initiatives for the Athletics Department. Constituents served include individual donors alumni foundations corporations and friends of the University.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Coordinates annual giving programs and events such as the Black and Gold Benefit
  • Manages a portfolio of annual giving prospects
  • Oversees stewardship initiatives for assigned department
  • Collaborates with the Director of Alumni Relations to coordinate alumni engagement initiatives such as reunions and departmental awards programs
  • Assists with fundraising initiatives established by department leaders and Lindenwoods Board of Trustees
  • Requests fundraising reports as needed
  • Collaborates with the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics to coordinate End Zone Club and VIP room events along with sport alumni engagement events
  • Coordinates activities and outreach for the Lions Booster Club and other athletics donor programs

Service Excellence

Communication Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Plans programs that promote goodwill and foster relationships with community leaders; utilizes University stakeholders including the president as part of the cultivation process
  • Advises the Senior Vice President for University Advancement the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics the Associate Vice President for Advancement and colleagues on internal and external constituency relations

Required Qualifications An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an advancement position or position with transferrable skills; internship or student employment experience can be used to meet this requirement
  • Experience with Raisers Edge preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities May be representative but not all inclusive of the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of the grant preparation process including researching writing and facilitating grant and private foundation funding
  • Knowledge of the fields best and current concepts practices and procedures including planned giving techniques and vehicles
  • Ability to cultivate solicit and steward annual gifts of $1000 and above
  • Empathetic listener with corresponding excellence in verbal and written communication
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task accurately under deadlines
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information
