Job Summary
The Assistant Dean HR oversees the Human Resource function of a large complex academic college develops and implements supporting human resource strategies serves as a liaison across campus units promotes service delivery excellence and develops people strategies through partnerships across campus.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as top HR officer of a complex academic college. Provide executive leadership for the HR function aligning its strategy with institutional priorities and leading the development and implementation of pertinent solutions. Set priorities across all HR functions in consultation with other senior leaders.
  • Manage HR professionals and leaders directly or indirectly across the college. Responsible for overall professional development of HR staff and organization as a whole.
  • Direct human resource professionals and leaders to fulfill the human resources strategy of the college.
  • Responsible for the overall human resources strategy and operational activities for the college.
  • Responsible for overall outcomes of human resource operations for the college ensuring compliance and successful delivery of human resource related services across the college.
  • Serve as a key high-level liaison between college staff the HR community of practice and campus leadership. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive service delivery excellence and innovation. Serve as executive sponsor of the most significant projects and initiatives for the college.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
  • Minimum four (4) years of demonstrated management supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Human Resource Management Labor and Employment Relations Business Administration or a related applicable field.
  • Fourteen (14) years of progressive work experience in human resource administration.
  • Eight (8) years of supervisory and management experience involving administration personnel and organizational responsibilities within a large and complex organization with demonstrated proven capability for successful team building and performance management.
  • Direct experience with employee relations conflict management and resolution.
  • Demonstrated HR team leadership.
  • Direct experience or familiarity with Extension.
  • Experience and knowledge of University of Illinois HR systems processes including academic and civil service personnel policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills e.g. reliability resourceful equitable adaptable efficient problem-solving etc.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT DETAILS:

This is a full-time (100 FTE% 12/12)academic professional appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate withqualifications and experience while also considering internal equity. Thebudgeted salary range for the position is $145000 to $180000. This positionwill be expected to work on-site at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaigncampus on a full-time basis. Sponsorship for work authorization is notavailable for this position.
