Position Title: Assistant Controller

Status: Full-time exempt

Salary: $95000-$105000/year commensurate with experience

Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller helps lead the accounting and financial management of the organization. This position will partner closely with the Controller and executive leadership to strengthen financial reporting improve accounting processes enhance internal controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Companys financial records.

The Assistant Controller will provide technical accounting expertise while serving as a resource to operations and accounting personnel. This individual must be comfortable investigating complex accounting issues identifying root causes recommending solutions and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both strong accounting knowledge and the ability to improve systems mentor others and build scalable accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
Assist in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
Lead portions of the monthly quarterly and annual close process.
Prepare and review journal entries account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Analyze financial results and investigate unusual variances.
Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
Support budgeting forecasting and financial analysis activities.

Leadership & Department Support
Assist the Controller with daily management of the accounting department.
Provide technical guidance and support to accounting staff.
Review work prepared by accounting personnel for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with staff training and development.
Serve as acting Controller during periods of absence.
Support special projects and strategic initiatives.

Accounting & Internal Controls
Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP.
Evaluate and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
Ensure transactions are properly documented and auditable.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Support tax insurance and regulatory reporting.

Process Improvement
Identify recurring accounting and operational issues.
Recommend and implement process improvements.
Develop standardized accounting procedures.
Partner with leadership to improve financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required
Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Experience leading month-end close activities.
Experience preparing financial statements.
Advanced reconciliation analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred
CPA or CPA candidate.
Public accounting experience.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP.
Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
Supervisory or team leadership experience.

Work Schedule:

Full-time in-office position.
Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
