Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic process-driven Assistant Controller to join our accounting leadership team in Sunnyvale CA. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller this role is a unique hybrid seat designed for a technically sound CPA who possesses a passion for operational excellence systems optimization and process engineering.
In this role you will not only ensure compliance with US GAAP but you will also serve as the operational architect of our accounting ecosystem. You will directly oversee core day-to-day transaction streamsincluding General Ledger Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Payroll and Taxwhile aggressively driving automation and NetSuite ERP enhancements to scale our business velocity.
What youll do:
- Process & System Automation: Serve as the accounting teams operational champion; drive continuous efficiency through automated workflows internal tool integrations and NetSuite ERP enhancements to dramatically compress the month-end close cycle.
- Core Accounting Leadership: Oversee day-to-day public company operations across the General Ledger Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Payroll and Tax functions ensuring absolute accuracy timeliness and strong internal controls.
- Financial Close Management: Lead the monthly quarterly and annual close processesincluding journal entry preparation/review account reconciliations and robust flux analysisto deliver audit-ready results supporting timely SEC and investor reporting.
- Public Company Governance & SOX: Maintain and optimize the design implementation and operating effectiveness of SOX internal controls across all operational accounting cycles; preserve compliance with US GAAP SEC regulations and PCAOB standards.
- Audit & Stakeholder Management: Prepare comprehensive audit-ready schedules and serve as a primary partner to external and internal auditors to ensure seamless annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Team Mentorship & Growth: Build mentor and develop a high-performing accounting operations team fostering a culture of accountability structured professional growth and continuous process improvement.
- Strategic Infrastructure: Maintain the corporate chart of accounts govern core accounting system information and support executive management on special strategic projects business model scale-ups and ad-hoc financial analysis.
What Were Looking For:
- Experience: 10 years of progressive accounting experience spanning public company environments and public accounting (audit); a Big 4 foundation is highly preferred.
- Leadership: 5 years of dedicated experience directly leading developing and scaling accounting teams in similar core operational functions.
- Education & Credentials: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field and an active CPA license (required).
- Technical Mastery: In-depth practical knowledge of US GAAP documentation SEC reporting regulations PCAOB standards and SOX internal control frameworks.
- Systems Fluency: Hands-on ERP experience with a proven track record of leading system enhancements configuration testing or module implementations; NetSuite experience is highly ideal.
- Operational Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a visible passion for process mapping eliminating manual spreadsheets and scaling transactional workflows.
Compensation Range
$201000 - $230000 USD
A candidates final salary offer will be based on their skills education work location and experience and thus it may differ from the posted range. Compensation may also include bonuses consistent with Ceribells corporate compensation plan.
