Job Description Summary
The Assistant Coach for mens and womens swim & dive will work both independently and collaboratively to perform essential duties and responsibilities in all facets of the program including but not limited to: training practicing recruiting travel logistics scholar-athlete development and compliance. As well as all other administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. This position also has additional responsibilities within Chapman University Athletics regarding game management. All other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Serve as the assistant coach to the mens and womens swim & dive program (65%) The assistant coach is responsible for teaching coaching and developing skills relative to their sport(s) under the direction of the head coach. Assisting with practice and conditioning student-athletes. Assist head coach with recruiting process which includes the identification evaluation recruitment and retention of prospective student-athletes working directly with the Admissions Department Provide input on daily practice training and meeting plan to help head coaches implement competitive schedule coordinate team travel and maintain compliance with university guidelines (fiscal and academic) and oversee a competitive National Collegiate Athletics Association intercollegiate schedule Assist Head Coach with fundraising efforts. Responsible for collaborating with university units to foster athletic academic emotional physical and social growth. Working with financial aid medical services academic support judicial affairs psychological services student-athletes services international programs and compliance. Mandatory Campus Security Authority and Title IX Mandatory Reporters. Provides support to assigned athletic teams and/or campus operations (30%) Game Management: Serve as primary on site -rep for assigned sports. Assuming responsibilities related to facility and game management compliance equipment operations internal operations and compliance. Serving as coordinator and administrator for student-workers officials welcome fan management visitor locker room coordination. Perform other administrative duties as assigned including and participating in university conference and national level meetings
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree. Current CPR certification. Knowledge of NCAA Division III and SCIAC compliance rules with the ability to interpret and apply all relevant rules and regulations. Sensitivity to understand student-athletes challenges and needs. Commitment to the academic success of student-athletes and the ability to persuasively articulate the role of athletics in education. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities. Ability to communicate interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people of diverse background.
