Assistant Chief Investigator

The Maryland InsuranceAdministration (MIA) is an independent State agency that regulates Marylands$46 billion insurance industry and protects consumers by monitoring andenforcing insurers and insurance professionals compliance with members are subject matter experts who serve as a resource forlawmakers consumers and other public and private entities.

The MIA is charged with abroad range of responsibilities including the licensure of insurance carriersand insurance producers (brokers/agents) operating in Maryland the conduct offinancial examinations of companies to monitor financial solvency and thereview and approval of rates and contract forms. The MIA investigates reportsof consumer fraud and consumer complaints about life health automobilehomeowners and/or property insurance. Insurance carriers are subject tomarket conduct examinations and other actions to monitor compliance withMaryland law.The MIA also hasa unit dedicated to consumer education and outreach which participates inhundreds of events and reaches thousands of individual consumers annually.

Education:Bachelors degree from an accreditedcollege or university in Insurance Business or related fields.

Experience:Five years experience in the Propertyand Casualty insurance industry as an investigator adjuster underwriter oragent.

experience inthe property and casualty insurance industry as an investigator adjusterunderwriter or agent may be substituted for the minimumqualifications.

2. Possession of J.D. degreeand fouryears ofexperience in the property and casualty insurance industry as aninvestigator adjuster underwriter or agent may be substituted for the minimumqualifications.
