Job Summary
This position is located on the Memphis campus in the Malignant Hematology & Transplant Clinic. Provides personal care assistance under the direction of licensed personnel and/or administrator.
Assesses the patient through the collection of data relevant to the patients condition and communicates assessment information effectively with patients families staff and physicians.
Identifies VS and lab alert values and communicates values outside parameters with the patients nurse/provider promptly and effectively.
Gathers reports from staff labs imaging pathology and others makes available to the physicians as requested.
Provides assistance in keeping efficient patient workflow.
Provides assistance to physicians with procedures as well as specimen collection while maintaining quality control standards.
Sets up rooms for procedure and exams draws and labels peripheral blood specimens according to hospital policy and under the supervision of physicians enters the results in the electronic medical record.
Provides for patient safety through standard precautions and quality control methods.
Assists with coverage of the front desk by answering phones accurately and thoroughly documenting in the EMR then routing to the appropriate personnel.
Schedules appointments registers patients schedules outpatient procedures/testing.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma. Approved nursing or medical assistant course.
Minimum Experience
Minimum of one-year experience.
Minimum Licensure Registration Certification
BLS certification with in 14 days of hire date; CMA certifications required.
Certified by the National Certification Board (National Center for Competency Testing) or obtain within 6 months of hire date.
Desired Education
Graduate from approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
Desired Experience
Phlebotomy experience.
