Job Description: Empire High School is seeking an Assistant Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in developing and managing a competitive positive and educational high school basketball program. This role focuses on skill development sportsmanship teamwork and student-athlete growth both on and off the course.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices and matches
- Provide individual and group instruction in basketball fundamentals rules and course strategy
- Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player performance and team success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes emphasizing sportsmanship discipline and teamwork.
- Promote academic achievement and ensure players adhere to eligibility requirements.
- Represent Empire High School with professionalism in the community and in interscholastic competitions.
- Ensure compliance with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school policies.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Strong knowledge of the sports fundamentals rules and strategies.
- Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- NFHS Coaching Certificates - fundamentals of coaching and concussion.
- Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
- Preferred:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school club or collegiate level.
- Previous experience as an assistant coach.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
- Experience with student-athlete development programs.
