General Information:
James Madison University a Division I member of the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA is seeking an Assistant Baseball Pitching Coach. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coaching training and motivating student-athletes in order to achieve competitive success.
- Development of pitching plans throwing programs with a focus on a year-round training plan. Also works with the Athletic Trainer/Strength Coach to create and manage workouts with all access information to arm care.
- Coordinate the recruitment of quality student-athletes who meet admission requirements and who have the potential to graduate and other recruiting needs as assigned by the head coach.
- Support the administration of the program. Duties include assisting the head coach in organizing and scheduling practices facilities games and weight program; supervise the care maintenance and inventory of equipment; travel with the team scout opponents academic liaison and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
- Assist with the recruiting of quality student-athletes who meet admission requirements and who have the potential to graduate and other recruiting needs as assigned by the head coach. Will assist with the scouting reports of opposing team hitters as well as ensure practice and games are videoed for analysis and learning opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant Institutional Sun Belt Conference NCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students parents faculty staff and community to better enhance public relations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree
- Previous coaching or pitching experience
- Experience working with populations from different backgrounds
Preferred:
- Former college or Professional pitching coaching experience
- Championship playing or coaching experience
- Proven success recruiting at the college level
- Proven success in developing pitchers
