Job Summary

Brandeis University is delighted to announce a career opportunity as an Assistant Athletic this position you will provide onsite care and management of varsity student-athletes injuries and illnesses including prevention evaluation management rehabilitation and event addition to communicating with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of varsity student-athletes you will maintain appropriate medical records.


The hiring range for this position is $45000 - $50000.

This is a 10 month a year position from August 1 - May 31st.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides onsite prevention evaluation emergency response treatment and rehabilitation services for varsity student-athletes injuries and illnesses in a fast-paced athletics environment requiring sound clinical judgment and the ability to respond effectively in urgent and evolving situations.
  • Provides medical coverage for varsity athletics practices and competitions including home and travel events with responsibility for immediate injury assessment emergency care and rapid decision-making during active athletic participation.
  • Communicates with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of varsity student-athletes.
  • Maintains appropriate medical records including pre-participation physicals injury and rehabilitation documentation outreach clearance forms and insurance information.
  • Assists in the daily maintenance of the athletic training room.
  • Supervises interns and student staff.
  • Completes administrative and other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Qualifications:

Education: B.A./B.S. required; M.A./M.S. preferred

Work Experience: 1-3 years


Required: NATABOC (National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification) National Certification; Licensed Athletic Trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or eligible); CPR AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certification.


Additional Information: As a member of the sports medicine staff provide onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses for 375 varsity student-athletes and complete the pre-participation screening procedures for 375 varsity student-athletes. Additionally as a member of the sports medicine staff supervise 5-8 student staff.
