ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a seasonal position you can use your winters off to travel hunt fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.
Responsible for safely supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in asphalt paving/production. This role involves ensuring that operations run smoothly to produce high-quality paving and asphalt product. Additionally the position requires assisting with operational tasks to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
- Perform equipment inspections walk-arounds and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions.
- Tour work site to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules and to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Communicate paving crew needs with dispatch and to the plant. Calculate number of trucks required to haul aggregate and/or asphalt according to capacity of vehicles traffic conditions distance from work site and productivity of driver.
- Monitor material quality inspect and troubleshoot materials to produce a high quality paving product identifying and addressing issues.
- Coach and monitor team members to comply with OSHA and safety regulations and assist in training new employees.
- Manage and lead employees providing guidance support and performance feedback to ensure efficient operations and compliance with company policies.
- Accurately record and relay production quality equipment and personnel information to the Operations Manager or other appropriate team members.
- Communicate effectively with project managers site supervisors inspectors subcontractors and other team members.
- Approve and submit work hours for personnel and relevant job information daily.
- Ensure compliance with MSHA OSHA EPA DNR safety and environmental regulations.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices taking action to prevent unsafe actions processes and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word Excel Outlook).
- Able to work independently and under time constraints.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational experience or other relevant job requirements)
- Minimum 7 years experience in product line
- Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including overtime possible nights and some Saturdays.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (preferred requirements i.e. certifications software use etc.)
- Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school work military institutional or vocational environment
