This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) ASOSU Non-traditional Students Advocacy Coordinator for the ASOSU at Oregon State University (OSU).
The ASOSU Non-traditional Students Advocacy Coordinator serves on the ASOSU Presidents Diversity Team to advocate for non-traditional students and identify issues affecting students belonging to these communities. The Non-raditional Students Advocacy Coordinator will work closely with other members of the ASOSU Executive Branch and the Diversity Team to develop community-based initiatives and programs to raise awareness highlight resources and engage the student body with the identified issues related to non-traditional students.
Position Duties
Create and develop intersectional collaborative programs and initiatives pertaining to non-traditional students and issues impacting these communities;
Attend on-campus programs and events that are relevant to non-traditional students when applicable and able;
Attend regular events and programming by the Family Resource Center (FRC) and the Basic Needs Center (BNC) when applicable and able;
Maintain productive relationships between the student government and the BNC FRC and non-traditional student organizations;
Connect community members with ASOSU resources through events related to non-traditional student affairs which may include those hosted by the Office of the Registrar the FRC and the BNC;
Communicate with relevant campus departments organizations and community stakeholders on issues pertaining to non-traditional students as well as student parents and other with respect to other considerations reflecting the diverse educational circumstances of the student body;
Identify opportunities for collaboration across University offices and student organizations to provide support and promote an inclusive learning environment for non-traditional students;
Foster relationships with non-traditional student organizations and communities and seek to collaborate with members of the student government to ensure better understanding of the impact of student government and University policies on the student body;
Provide resources for non-traditional students and their families and associates to interact with the student government and learn more about campus services;
Collaborate with University institutions and student organizations to advocate policies and support programming related to the interests of non-traditional students;
Identify areas of funding deficiencies in relation to non-traditional student affairs and advocate for greater funding in those areas as needed;
Work with the ASOSU Policy Team on issues and policies concerning non-traditional students in higher education;
Assist the ASOSU in developing programming or policy to serve graduate post-baccalaureate postgraduate non-degree seeking students and other smaller constituencies among the ASOSU Student Body;
Advocate to create a safe open and inclusive environment for non-traditional students;
Facilitate the gathering of information tracking legislation and conducting research on issues and policies concerning non-traditional student issues;
Identify and develop areas of involvement in non-traditional student affairs in which the ASOSU Executive Branch should engage itself.

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required
Maintenance of good academic and conduct standing and a cumulative and prior term 2.0 GPA.
Commitment to promoting and advancing diversity and creating an atmosphere of inclusion for all students and community members.
Communication skills in areas including but not limited to interpersonal public speaking digital verbal and written communications.
Organizational skills including managing time and working accurately with interruptions to meet a deadline; delegating tasks when applicable.
